Southern Broad-Axe [West Point, MS], January 18, 1860
I take this method of informing the citizens of Lowsdes, Oktibbeha, Monroe, and the surrounding counties, that I am located one mile South of Artesia, on the M. & O. R. R., for the purpose of catching negroes, where I shall always be in readiness to serve those who may require my service. I flatter myself that I have as good a pack of negro dogs as can be found in the State. My terms are $25.00 for catching. When I do not catch, five dollars per day for hunting— and when I arrive in eight hours after the track is made and do not catch, no pay.
