Cedar Falls and the "bowl" it is in at end of Cedar Falls Trail
This is composite wide angle image blended from several photos taken
sequentially.
During the "dry" parts of the year, there is very little flow over the
falls. During wetter times, and after significant rain, the fall can
be very spectacular. (See image below)
Needless to say, when there is this much water flowing, the
level in the pool and the stream will be significantly higher, as can
be seen by the water marks on the rocks around the pool and down the
stream. During the extreme rains of December, 1982, the flow was
such that the Cedar Creek Trail foot bridge was washed away in the
flood, as were a number of bridges on roads in the surrounding
counties. |
