The Nashville Patriot says that there are at least two hundred men employed at the penitentiary in the manufacture of haversacks, caps, pouches, camp chests, gun hammers, tool chests, and remodeling bayonets, scabbards, and that in a few days, preparations for making cartridges, etc., will be completed. A large Number of hands have also been employed in the manufacture of shoes for the soldiers, and wagons for army purposes. Col. Johnson is thus making the prison subserve the use of the State in this emergency, and we feel well assured that he will make it as useful as possible.
