1860s newsprint

Daily Chronicle & Sentinel [Augusta, GA], February 24, 1860

From a private letter to a gentleman in this place, we learn that the students of Mercer University, at Penfield, held a Southern Rights Meeting on last Saturday afternoon, and adopted strong resolutions, declaring their eternal allegiance to Southern homes and hearths. Among the resolutions was one which binds every one appearing on the rostrum at Commencement, to be dressed in clothing of Southern manufacture. Several members of the faculty were present.—Madison Visitor.
