California papers inform us that, owing to the rearrangement of the Salt Lake and Denver mails, the famous pony express has been placed upon the retired list. The state of mind of the pony, upon receiving this cheering intelligence may be more easily imagined than described. Our special correspondent in that section of the country gives us a few interesting particulars in connection with the subject. He has since issued invitations to a great many fillies and colts of his acquaintance to a hay dansante, a provocation to which none of them are likely to say Neigh.
