  • Bombardment and capture of forts Clark and Hatteras on the coast of North Carolina; rebel loss— 765 prisoners, 1,000 stand of arms, two vessels loaded with cotton and coffee, and a large amount of ammunition and stores. Union commanders: Stringham of the navy, and Butler of the army.
