At a meeting of this body, held on Monday, an ordinance preventing slaves being on the streets after nine o’clock, with or without a pass was introduced and adopted. Also one repealing the price of wharfage granted the lessees by the former Board. No slaves but licensed draymen are henceforth to be permitted to hire their own time, and all slave owners are to be prosecuted for allowing their slaves to do so in violation of law.
