About this blog
Welcome to Anecdotes & Images, a place where anyone can submit public domain civil war related material.
How it works:
At this point, the guidelines are fairly loose.
- It must be in the public domain.
- Even if it is public domain, material copied from what another individual has placed on-line is not to be posted here unless the individual has granted permission.
- It should be no more than 5 or 6 pages in length. Longer pieces may be broken up into segments no more than 5 or 6 pages in length, with each segment to be published on a different day.
If you’re interested in submitting material to Anecdotes & Images, please refer to the submissions page to let me know.
Who runs this site?
Anecdotes & Images is operated by Mike Goad. I’ve been publishing on-line for several years. This blog is spin-off from my Daily Chronicles of the American Civil War.
I retired early in 2007 from a job in the nuclear power industry. I had started in nuclear power over 35 years earlier when I enlisted in the nuclear navy where I later served in submarines and was an instructor at a naval prototype in the Idaho desert. After leaving the navy, I went to work at a commercial nuclear power station. There I was licensed as a reactor operator and, later, as a senior reactor operator. For almost 24 years I was an instructor in Operations Training.
My interest in the civil war evolved from an earlier interest in genealogy. Though not from this area originally, when I learned that a brother of an ancestor of mine had been murdered not more than 60 miles from here by bushwhackers in the closing days of the war, I was hooked. Gradually my interest moved away from genealogy until today my only effort with it is looking for material that would be of interest to others searching for history related to their ancestors.
